Field: Biotechnology and software engineering

Ada Puric, IST Class of 2018

Undergraduate degree in Bioprocessing of New Medicines at UCL.
Currently studying Software Engineering and working as a research assistant in the Department of Biochemical Engineering at UCL.

How long did you attend IST?
I came to IST in Grade 2 and stayed until I graduated from high school.

What was your thesis title?
My thesis looked at how social media platforms like Instagram are killing traditional media (i.e. magazines) in the context of luxury fashion brands. I guess this explains well my interest in different fields which are not entirely related!

What was your IST House?
Shakti! The smartest and coolest people.

In what ways were you prepared for your future studies?
I feel like an important part of the experience at IST is the way in which students interact with a variety of different subjects and ways of learning. In university, I was dealing with 8 different modules (subjects) per year which required adapting constantly to different content (more qualitative vs more quantitative) all taught in unique ways and requiring different ways to learn and approach.

In Grade 5, you planned on being…?
An actress!! Probably a lot more glamorous compared to the biochemical engineering and programming that I am doing now.

What is your favorite memory from your years at IST?
For sure the times spent with my close group of friends that I grew up with. We went from being 8 years old playing during recess to then experiencing all of middle school and high school together.
