How long have you taught at IST?
This is my second year teaching at IST. I taught here from 2019-2020 and am happy to be back this year.
Describe IST in 3 words…
Welcoming; forward-thinking; rigorous.
What is your favorite thing about the community?
Everyone is so friendly. Colleagues, parents and students have all been very welcoming.
What are the typical characteristics of an IST student?
IST students are passionate. In whatever they are interested in, they seem to chase after their ambitions with a great zeal. It is very inspiring to see.
What is your favorite memory at IST?
Most of my favorite memories revolve around students who believed they were not able to understand a math concept, but then “something” clicks, and they understand. It is so rewarding to see the joy that accompanies this revelation. I also remember fondly the time I had to play soccer in one of the Advisory matches. Everyone, including me, had a great laugh, although perhaps at my expense 😉
What would you be if you weren’t a teacher?
Before I was a teacher, I worked as a Marine Biologist. I also owned a restaurant for seven years and, although I would not likely own a restaurant again, I would perhaps return to Marine Biology.
